The PAC provides eighteen moorings for recreational use by PAC members, seventeen in the Pittwater/Broken Bay area and one in Hardys Bay. The majority of these are of the orange cone variety and all are marked with a Royal Blue stripe and the words “PAC Members Only”, moorings in Winji Jimmi are standard shaped red in colour. All PAC moorings are serviced annually by a contractor. Members who find a PAC mooring to be unserviceable should report it promptly to the PAC Board for attention. Members should fly the PAC burgee (issued at no charge to new members and replaceable for a small charge) when occupying a club mooring. It is considered courteous in periods of high demand to offer another member the opportunity of tying alongside temporarily if requested and if weather conditions permit. As a general rule, club moorings are intended for single vessels up to 14 metres in length. However, by exercising good seamanship, common sense and weather awareness, a temporary raft up of up to three smaller vessels may be contemplated in fine weather and light to moderate winds. As weather can deteriorate rapidly and with little warning, overnight raft ups are not recommended. The PAC standard configuration for these recreational moorings is a double block with tackle attaching to a cone buoy and mooring line. Because moorings live in the water, they are constantly exposed to damage by vessels and other causes. Such damage may not be apparent. Members using PAC moorings do so at their own risk, and are responsible for checking the condition of the mooring line and its suitability before mooring.
